triumphing

i am sorry this is such a crap photo
but my reflexes were too slow.
so i will have to paint a picture for you.

old couple
gentleman in a cool and snazzy cap,
steel grey eyes looked back at me in the rear view mirror
do you think he could tell i was staring???
i bet.
the lady was just as classy with her head covered in a scarf.
who ever said old floridian folks are stodgy?
i tried to get a picture of them
but then he switched lanes.
walmart bound.
i won't hold that against him!
so this is the best i could do.

i wish
i wish
i wish

i wish i had a triumph spitfire
an aqua spitfire
from the 60's.

yup that would make my day alright!

missing the beach

i am sick
i had a flu a couple of weeks ago
that has decided to revisit me
headache, fever, cough, congestion.

i didn't go far to take this picture.
it was pouring with rain.
it looked like a mini beach.
a pebble beach
i am missing the beach.

i hope we get to go to sanibel island
that is my favorite place to go in florida

but for now i am waiting for bob to bring me
some mucinex and am heading to the couch.

cough
cough
cough.

mother and son

we came down to florida to celebrate her 83 birthday
she is 83 years young

she is a snowbird
escapes the cold.
lives in her own home  here for the winter
sings in the choir,
cooks all her own meals
drives her own car

she is a getting a little forgetful
and confused about details
'so did david come for christmas?'
'no mom he is coming in february'

but she still loves to play rummikub,
crochet afghans for the poor,
and laughs hard at a good story.

happy birthday bev!

January 20, 2010

on route

this was taken from the window of a small 20 seater plane
we flew from roatan to la ceiba.
i love shooting into the sun.
i remember when i was a teenager that was considered such a big no no!
don't point your camera directly into the sun!
HA! I say now!
:-)

we are going to florida to celebrate Bob's Mom's
83 birthday.
I lost my Mom suddenly 4 years ago and now I don't take life
for granted
we need to enjoy and celebrate moments together.

today will be a long day of travel.
roatan to la ceiba
la ceiba to san pedro sula
4 hours wait
then fly to fort lauderdale
3 hours wait
then orlando.
then a 1 1/2 hour drive to sebring.

i expect we will be there around midnight.
the good thing about bob and i is that we both don't mind
waiting around.
we met a man and his daughter in roatan
and they are on the same flight and uncertain about honduras
so we have sort of adopted them.
they are following us.
and doing whatever we do!
haha!
we are getting to know them.
it is all part of the day.

i found a spot with a plug in,
borrowed a chair from econo rent a car guy
(all in bad spanish!)
at first he said no to the chair, but when he saw
that i was going to sit on the floor i heard him say
MAMA~~
then he pointed to the chair and smiled.
Mama??!
that is really a term for an old lady.
sheesh... or maybe it is one of respect.
let's hope so

anyways,  i am grateful that today
all we need to do is travel,
meet people
and enjoy being together.

i admit though.
i miss roatan already!

happy birthday emily
Today is our daughter Emily's birthday
She loves bags!
So i will be mailing this one to her.
i just love the colors!
it reminds me of roatan with all the blues and greens.

Emily is our middle daughter.
before she was born I asked God for a verse for her
and Job 8:21 came to mind.
that was a little scary considering what Job went through!
but listen to this:
"He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of JOY"

then today on the day of her birth I read this:
"May the God of all hope fill you
with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may over flow with hope by the power
of the Holy Spirit"
Romans 15:13

JOY
JOY JOY
JOY JOY JOY

that is my birthday longing for her!

here is an excerpt from Emily's fb profile:

I have a real faith and a relationship with God.
I have strong maternal instincts.
I love to sing.
I am generally a boring person.
I tend to love too deeply.
I am overweight, but I’m working on it.
I love to laugh.
I have a passion for everything Italian.
I am the procrastination queen.
I am secretly a perfectionist but it’s overruled by my laziness.
I have a strange fondness for pepper.
I value privacy but fear being alone.
I have terrible conversation skills which makes me appear snobby.
I am really sappy and am a complete hopeless romantic.

Have a wonderful birthday!
I wish I was there!
I'd make you a cake and spoil you rotten!!

some say

I saw this sign in west end today
west end is a touristy/snorkel/scuba dive area
of the island.

paya bay is on the other side of the island.
the east side.
would i say it is like heaven?
hmmm... let's not go that far.
but one of the most beautiful spots on the island.
yes.
pigeon cay is remarkably beautiful!
we took a boat out there once,
imagine pristine sandy beach,
no inhabitants,
quiet beyond words,
about 4 shades of blue in the sea...
from turquoise, to azure, to robin egg to
deep blue!
yes deep blue!
the first time I saw it I was blown away.
I started to laugh and said,
I am in the deep blue sea!!
it is the darkest, most gorgeous color of blue imaginable!

but heaven?
nah.
not quite.

Pigeon cay.. taken on  July 2, 2009

almost though...

mr and mrs.

can you tell which is which?
from what i know the male would be the blue headed one.
and for heaven sakes he has blue legs too!!
:-)
it is interesting how males in the animal kingdom are always
more showy then the females.
i know in theory that it is so the female can be more camouflaged
than the male.
she needs to stay out of the picture to care for the young

but it makes me wonder
are we humans the only ones who have that backwards??

i don't dress up much but bob always laughs when i go out with
my girlfriends because i do it up 'right'.
why is it that we feel that pressure with other women?
not all women but in a group.. oh yeah.

biblically speaking paul says that woman should adorn themselves
with a quiet and gentle nature
and not with gold and the braiding of hair.

i don't have a quiet and gentle nature naturally.
i am pretty loud and 'out there'
but something has changed in me as i have gotten older.
gentleness in the greek means 'domesticated'
bob used to call me his wild horse but
somewhere with His touch on my soul
I have become quiet inside.
domesticated.

it's pretty amazing.

so i like the way the animal nature does it.
let the guys have all the glam and all the attention.

it is less stressful to be quietly minding 'our own' anyways
i think.
i do.
