caribbean spring

i love living here
but i do miss the seasons
although for the record:
no i don't miss winter
i don't miss snow one bit
but i miss spring
and fall

this is our second season here
the first year i thought there were two seasons
rainy and dry season
but since i am a flower lover
i am seeing that we do have different seasons
i can tell by the different flowers that bloom
at certain months
our rainy season has just finished,
the skies are often still cloudy but the rains have lessened

so this is a typical spring flower.
i think while the spring flowers are in bloom
i will highlight signs of our spring.

stay tuned.

laying around

these are my earrings.
i love to wear earrings
i really love them!

i collect funky ones.
but here's the problem:
in the evening when i am chillaxing on the couch
the earrings dig into the side of my head
so i take them off and toss them on the coffee table.

the light on these were perfect though,
don't you think??
who knew dust bokeh would be so pretty.

see  it pays to not be too tidy!!

have a good weekend.
it's pizza night at our place.
oh yeah!!!

worth the wander

we are blessed to be renting
a piece of property on the ocean that
has over 2 1/2 acres of trees, flowers, fruit, nuts etc.

i often wander
just looking to see what i can find.

today on the far side of the property i found this
bush with these lovely flowers on it.
the interesting part is that on one stem you sometimes
get a white and a purple flower.
not today though.
oh well.

worth the wander
yes
even if i got bite like crazy
but fire ants

so imagine me trying to photograph this
and every now and then
jumping up and down saying
ow ow ow!

still worth it.
so beautiful.
have a good day!

wild horses

imagine
driving up the road to the grocery store
and see two wild horses just grazing
along the side of the road.

no halter
no bridle
no owner

just nibbling on grass
minding their business

i was surprised how close I got to them
before they decided to meander off.

all in the course of a day in roatan!

pizza shell

I am a little emotional this morning.
Our son David is flying back to Montreal this afternoon
and already I feel the loss of him.

Today after having coffee together we decided
to go for one last morning beach walk.
We both love photography so it is a wonderful
ritual that we enjoy to start the day capturing the beauty
around us.

David is a much better photographer then I
He has taught me so much this week.
I am blessed to have a son who enjoys being with me
We talk endlessly
and try to solve the world's problems,
we laugh,
I listen to the sounds and aches of his heart
we sometimes bicker
but all in all it is a delight to be together.

As we were walking along I saw these boys standing beside this  blue house
and I said.
Oh David isn't that a great color as a backdrop?
Indeed!

kenfor, christopher, preston
So here are the boys.
Inside their shirts were many little beach shells.
David bought 3 of them.
Hence the pizza shell.
Little Christopher said,
"I gots a shell dat looks like  pizza.. you want dat?"

Fo' shore!!
small treasures,
wonderful memories of being together.

missing you already david

♥ L.O.V.E ♥

Psalm 136
comes to mind.
in order for the Psalmist David to get this truth across
he said it 26 times

not once,
not twice
but
26 times.

okay God I get it...
Your love endures forever.

In Roatan there isn't any commercialism to this holiday
no pink hearts in windows,
no scented candles
no roses on sale...
no consumer push at all.
i love it.

this morning i woke up
leaned over to bob and said,
"i love you so much.
i can't imagine being with anyone but you"

love expressed simply.
l.o.v.e
given
and
received.

His
love
endures
forever

I am who I am because of that
Thanks Lord.

dappled

seadancer
is a place we love to visit
we lived there for the first 6 months here on the island.
bob and i are team share owners in one of the units.
i love how the green arches over the road.
  roatan is so very green.
so beautiful... even on a quiet little road.
i love how the sun dappled through the trees,
and how their is a natural arch of color there.
isn't it amazing that even a small country road can be so beautiful?
our son david is visiting and he is blown away by how green
everything is here.
we still like to go to visit people and to use the dock.

this is david our son.
he edited this photo.

blessed.
