fireglass

I used to work in an antique store
in Vancouver:
Main and 48th
I believe it where the store was.
I found this vase then,
back in 1979.

I love vintage glass so much.
When the light shines through this it
looks like fire.
Hence the name 'fireglass'.

I am not by nature a 'hoarder' but I have
managed to keep this over the years.
I even brought it to Roatan with us.
I didn't bring many of my things with me
but
I wanted a beautiful vase to put flowers in

This one fit the bill so well.
I think that there should be flowers in the house
daily
if possible.

 i was delighted to see
this wonderful pattern.

he sees

Our son David is visiting here from Montreal.
This is his first trip to a third world country.
He is soaking in all the sights, sounds, foods,
people and beauty.

I love how you can see that in this picture.
Some people go through life without seeing.
they just rush.
david sees.
he really sees.
i think that is why he is such a great photographer too.

i see you david.

David

our son david is visiting us from Montreal.
he is here for only a week
we are squeezing in seeing the sites, eating good food,
visiting and catching up in a very short time.

i see bananas everyday,
bunches of them
but they look so much better when the one
i love stands in front of them.

a lovely weed

I saw this growing along the side of the road on our
way out to Hottest Sparrow yesterday.

I admit I have a bit of a problem.
I love flowers to the point of obsession.
So as we are driving along I see these lovely beauties and I say
to Bob..
"oh honey stop I want to get some of those to plant in my garden"
"but they are weeds"
"no they aren't.. they are wildflowers"
"i think they'd be invasive"

But...
he stopped!!

Bob is a good man that way.

It is amazing a difference a day can make though
because today I went out and looked at them
and thought...
hmmm...
I remember these.
I planted some last spring (red flowers though) and the flowers
lasted a couple of weeks and then the plants are
lanky and ugly and invasive.

ahhh Bob was right!
but I don't mind.
I still got a lovely photo out of those beautiful yellow weeds/wildflowers.
they added some color to our otherwise grey day.

they are very pretty, don't you agree?
