flower's bay

nancy, jeanette and i left the house
this morning at around 7:00
and walked along the sea at flower's bay
i love this part of the island because it has
SIDEWALKS!!

it is a small thing but so important
because the drivers here are 'loco'
plus the views of the south shore are more rugged
with iron shore rock, and more wave action.
the road is dotted with colorful wooden homes
on stilts and swaying palms.

even at that early hour there were people sitting on their
porches talking and visiting.
so begins another day in flower's bay.

dawg dayz

that's bob's foot
don't you love his tan??
it is from his dawg shoes.
he has dawg dots!!

either way, a super cool tan alright...
love the little dots on his foot!!

this was taken after a snorkel at seadancer
i couldn't resist taking it with all that bokeh
in the background
and the sea water still resting on his legs.

we are enjoying our friends and taking it easy
this week,
showing them around,
and enjoying the sea and the sunshine.

it is rare to get a photo of bob
'laying in the sun'
because he seldom does.
he got this dawg dot tan from  just being
out and about...
but yesterday after his snorkel he decided to
lay in the sun and dry off.

i hope the Son shines in your heart today.

March 24, 2010

thank you mr sun for coming out today

our friends from canada are from the East Coast
it is very moderate there and our friend
Nancy was concerned about it being
TOO HOT
in the roatan.

i had to laugh when i heard we had a nor'easter
blowing through the day before they arrived.
now they'd feel right at home.
haha.
so it has been rainy, windy and overcast the last few
days.
the heat isn't bothering them at all!
but we are all ready for a wee bit of sunshine.

oh yeah here is the photo of the whole meal meal

so alas this morning is a glorious one.
i didn't even have my coffee before going out to
take this photo as the sunlight was beckoning
me to find some backlight and bokeh.

oh JOYS!!!!!

stages of life

beauty in all stages:
the beginning,
where all is fresh and moist and soft
the middle,
where the fading begins,
and the end with the promise of death
and rebirth.

all beautiful stages.

simple pleasures

today our friends from canada arrived!
oh joy!
they brought all sorts of goodies for us:
chocolate
medicine
makeup
vitamins,
spices,
tools

my friend
Marion
knows i love penny candy
so she said me a HUGE BAG
of candy.

simple pleasures.
so here is Edwardo and Carlos
displaying the candy from CANADA

I gave them the candy on the plate which they
were delighted to have.

Little Edwardo enthusiasticly asked
"is that little banana really candy?"

Yes indeed.
I hope your days holds simple pleasures as well.

one Mother's Day
our daughter Emily
gave me bags and bags of penny candy
as a gift.

the girl knows my heart.
i love candy!

creative coverage

today i drove maria and her newborn
home from the hospital
and took her back to the colonia.
that is a poor spanish community just up the road from where
we live.

as i was driving home i saw this boy walking
 happily down the road.
i burst out laughing to see him
so delightfully parading along with a box on his head
how is that for creative coverage?

he was pleased to let me take his picture.
the funniest part about it was about 10 minutes later
i saw him walking along the beach..
box still on his head.

oh to be like a child again!
no i am not donning a box,
fear not,
but that reckless abandon that doesn't care
what the world thinks about us.

how refreshing is that?
hope you had a wonderful sunday.

here is a little slice of my afternoon.

west bay beach
usually it is very calm
but we have a nor'easter coming in
so the waves were great.
so much for snorkeling though.
had a great time
lounging, walking the beach and taking
a load of photos.
some one pass the aloe vera please!!

i think i can!

one of my favorite spots to go each morning is out
on the deck.
i have my coffee and read my bible and enjoy
many visitors:
hummingbirds chirp and visit the feeder,
doves coo,
turkey vultures soar high over head looking for food
friggits grace the sky,
and the blue head lizard visits the hummingbird feeder
for his morning taste of sweetness!

i happened to catch him just as he was climbing over
one of the seashells on the ledge of the deck.

this photo speaks to me of determination.
not giving up
having no obstacle stop me.
persistence is a strength of character that few
maintain but it is worth developing.

whatever you are facing...
don't give up.
i think i can,
i
think
CAN!

see?
he had quite the little journey to the feeder
but yes he made it!!
